brip blap: how to breathe

  • SavingDiva · 1 year ago
Wow! I spent about 5 minutes "breathing" at my desk this morning and I feel fabulous! It's funny how something as simple as concentrating on your breathing can relax your body....

I like to do this when I can. It's surprising how much my body relaxes/=.

I studied Kyokushin Karate when I was in grade school and junior high. Breathing correctly was the first thing they taught us. There is a lot of power in our breath. Nice post...

Attention to breathing helps me a great deal, although I do not focus on it as much as I should. I get busy during the day and I forget!

Another good tip I saw a couple of days ago was a simple yoga pose -- all you need is a pillow and a wall -- that will help restore energy after only a few minutes.

You can read about it at:

So simple yet so effective! Awesome post my girlfriend just walked in on me and gave me the funniest look lol. It really works!

Awesome ideas. I'm always looking for new ideas to keep my stress level, along with everyone else, I'm sure.

Another thing I've noticed when I breathe is to focus on the cool air coming through your nostrils and then the warm air moving out of your mouth.

    Give it a shot!

Hey Steve, does it still work when you are frustrated?
I might want to try this technique one day :-0
    Thx !

Thanks for all the comments - speedy, I'll check out that link and Joe, that's a good additional tip! TFB: I guess it's like anything else you try for stress reduction. It works, but only up to a point. If you're very frustrated it's going to take a while for any calming techniques to work!

It's amazing how we neglect even the simplest of things. Thanks for the reminder.

I like to call this conscious breathing. It's amazing how it clears the head. Of course, taking the breathe as you describe is most effective. I find that in stressful moments if I can just take a moment and take a deep cleansing breath it brings the stress level down a notch.

Actually, the diaphragm goes "down" when inhaling...
